Newick's Lobster House: Reviews & Ratings
A wonderful experience. The food is plentiful and delicious. Our service is always amazing, and the sunset on the water was therapeutic. Thank you all for your service
Went Saturday evening for dinner, seated right away, had a window seat on the water, had prompt friendly service, ordered a bowl of thick Chowder, was served nice and hot, thick and creamy. Potatoes and nice chunks of clam, delicious. Also shared a plate of onion rings, fresh large rings with a light batter, could have eaten the entire plate, too bad we were sharing. Ordered a clam roll plate was overloaded with clams, a bun was served with it. Bater was light and definitely would order again, not cheap 32.00 but would recommend. Also had an order of Calamari, small order and there was plenty, was cooked perfectly and had marinara sauce. Lastly we had haddock bites and scallops with hand made chips, again batter nice and light and served piping hot like it should be. Nice being on the water watching the boats go by. They also sell lobster and have an ice cream window for after dinner. definitely recommended and will be coming back next time we're in town.
We have been frequenting Newicks for the last 45 years and have never been disappointed. We went this time during the week for a late lunch. Always prompt service, ample portions and very tasty. Still seems quirky to me, though, that they use paper plates, plastic utensils and paper cups. But I guess that’s part of the charm. The day we went you could add a lobster to your entree for $14 which is cheaper than I could buy the same one at my local grocery store.
On a family road trip I want lobster so we stop. The place was really big. Its definitely has the lobster shack feel. You can beat the kids meals
Not only was it our first time eating here, but it's our first time eating at a seafood restaurant since moving to New Hampshire. I have to say compared to Florida's seafood there is no comparison Florida's seafood always seems to have a dirt after taste. This seafood was so fresh and delicious. Ordered clam strip dinner with a 1lb lobster on the side, our son got 1lb lobster dinner, and the wife got marinated steak tip dinner. All around great experience with amazing food and conversation overlooking a beautiful lake. Definitely recommend stopping by and trying it yourself. I know I will be back
Old school/ vintage and large New England lobster place. If you are looking for or expecting new / upscale decor ,not for you. Service was prompt and attentive. We ordered fried clams, crab stuffed Haddock and 1.5 lb lobster. Lobster was hard shell and full of meat. Clams fried up very nicely and not greasy. Both clams and stuffed Haddock were very nice sized portions. Haddock stuffed with crab was delicious .
3.7 stars rounded up to 4, largely because they have some great strengths, but their weaknesses are very significant. They have several dishes that really shine (Fish chowder - any of the soups/chowders really) and many of the fried seafoods, giant portions of onion rings etc. However things like the "grilled" chicken are terrible. My wife ordered it and it looked like they'd actually boiled the chicken and then coated in seasoning. The soda is always under-syruped and tastes off. I'm super bummed they did away with the complimentary dinner rolls, and the market prices are astronomical - make sure to always check so you don't find a surprise when the bill comes due. Whatever lobsters cost at the grocery store you can expect to be charged about quadruple that here. There's just nothing so special about their steamed/boiled lobster that I'd pay that kind of money to eat it here, especially when the ambiance is so casual. There are plenty of delicious alternatives on the menu anyway. What bums me out though is that this pricing strategy completely kills my desire to enjoy the true seafoods here. I come here for chowder and fried seafood. I'll save my lobster money and buy a freshly steamed feast from a grocery store.
Went here with a huge crowd of friends. This ginormous place seated us all quickly. They quickly set us up with drinks and appetizers. The calamari was top 2-3 I’ve had anywhere. First time for me trying: -steamers: sandy but interesting. Just wash them a couple times. -whole lobster: once a local explained it, no problem to shuck it. Tasted great, not much meat. A great experience (the company paid) and I would go again if I travel back to the area.
